Bill Underwood is a co-founder and CEO of Catalyst Consulting Team. Bill has assisted executives for 20 years in implementing key strategic initiatives and developing leadership talent and management teams. Bill facilitates people to make choices and align toward shared business results. He educates his clients to conduct productive conversations that help them make informed decisions.

At the core of his practice, Bill applies the work of Action Science, a research-based approach to strategic choice-making and human dynamics. Drawing on the work of Chris Argyris, Bill has a proven record for helping executives use their differences to advance intelligent progress. Bill draws from a background in anthropology, cognitive psychology, organizational change, and general semantics.

In 1994, Bill pioneered the use of web-based collaborative software, GroupMind Express, to augment the quality of human interaction and decision-making. Clients such as eBay, Oracle, Sun Microsystems and Conoco Philips use GroupMind Express for surveys, worldwide conferencing, and to manage global teams.

Bill began developing experiential simulations for management and team development in 1982. Today, Catalyst offers cutting-edge interactive training and simulations that range from climbing peaks in New Zealand to half-day organizational simulations such as the BigPicture™

Bill develops the innovative training programs for leadership, teamwork, strategy, productive communication, and consulting processes that have been a Catalyst trademark since 1985, including Vision & Strategy, Strategic Leadership, Managing Employee Performance, and Productive Dialogue. He has customized these programs for more than 25 organizations, including Sun Microsystems, Levi Strauss & Co., Oracle, Network Appliance, Cisco Systems, and Autodesk.

Bill’s particular interest is in transferring skills that enable organizations to understand their learning process. He coaches executive and management teams, consults in change management, and conducts individual one-on-one personal coaching. He lives in Santa Cruz, California with his wife Karen, and enjoys biking and skiing with his twin sons.
