Big Picture

BigPicture™ is an outstanding solution for creating an interactive learning environment in meetings or training programs. BigPicture™ effectively addresses collaborating across teams and silos, leading by vision, and flexibility during changing customer expectations.

How BigPicture™ works
In just a few hours, the BigPicture™ simulation engages a group to meet customer requirements by designing, painting, coloring and assembling a collaborative mural. The goal: to enlarge small pieces of a picture to create a wall-sized mural. Participants are divided into regional groups representing work teams, management teams, and customers. Work teams are concerned with issues of interdependencies regarding color, texture, scale, customer needs, cost, and time to market. Managers drive their teams to meet milestones, ship dates and budgets, and to take ownership of the final product. Everyone has what they need to succeed, as long as they focus on the critical objectives and processes that create the BIG picture.

Despite detailed instructions, participants often don’t immediately see what is necessary for success. Once the teams are redirected to focus on the important needs to accomplish the vision, frustration becomes coordinated action, and productivity takes a quantum leap. The lessons learned are burned into the minds of the participants they are now ready to apply these new insights in their own work practices.

Tuckman Team Kit

For more than 20 years, Catalyst has assisted teams and their leaders in creating highly productive work environments. Our goal is to help teams build their capacity to move from Forming to highly Performing in efficient and productive ways. The new Tuckman Team Kit gives teams the capability to manage their own development, using tools and processes proven to create highly performing teams.

With the Tuckman Team Kit, based on the work of Bruce Tuckman, teams recognize their stage of development and utilize processes to get them to the next stage. Each of the four stages of team development presents its own set of challenges and questions. For example, a team facing challenges in the Storming stage must deal with their competence for conflict. If they have Formed well, they can use their trust and their focus on purpose and goals to leverage the conflict.

The Tuckman Team Kit includes the Tuckman Team Survey and the Tuckman Team Leader’s Guide. The Team Survey is a simple–but not too simple–feedback tool to pinpoint team strengths and challenges in the context of the four stages, plus virtual communication and meetings. The web-based 28-item survey includes both quantitative and qualitative feedback, enabling teams to accurately assess their strengths and to build on them. The Team Leader’s Guide is a set of processes organized by the Tuckman stages.
